This is a model of the Hopf fibration made using 35 mm split key rings. The large one has 25 while the smaller is constructed from 10. Hopf fibrations are mathematical entities that are notable for being able to fill all of space with circles. They also have applications to fluid mechanics; they show the flow lines of a solution to the Navier-Stokes equations. For a wonderful introduction see A Young Person's Guide to the Hopf Fibration.
I made these in January of 2017.
